Michal Bursa works as a research scientist at the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences since 2011. He got his PhD degree in 2006 at Charles University, Prague.
His research activities include effects of strong gravity on the X-ray variability of compact objects and possible ways of inferring the mass and spin of black-hole sources from their X-ray emision spectra or lightcurves. His interests also include numerical simulations and ray-tracing in curved spacetimes.
Currently, he serves as the Director of the Institute.
